Thank you Trish. What I need now is someone with access to the Lenham parish records to verify these submitted baptisms. The John Walter you refer to could be my missing John father of John and brother of George.

Betty we have a mutual ancestor. Frances Fittall is my husbands great great grandmother. Any information on Lydia Freind and family would be really useful.

Back another generation with Jane's parents:

Father:
Daniel KEMP
My notes for Daniel:
Four Burials for a Daniel Kemp in Northbourne:
2nd Feb 1818 (*age 3mths, of Finglesham)
22nd Dec 1818 (Nothing for a Daniel, only a David for this date)
17th Nov 1823 (*age 79, of Northbourne)
25th Jan 1837 (*age 49, of Northbourne)
All from FamilySearch Pilot
* From PRs CDs

So most likely burial is the 1823 one, giving his birth c1744.

Jane's Mother:
Susanna WOODWARD
Buried 3rd Jan 1844 in Northbourne, age 97, so born c1747.

Marriage:
14th May 1774
Daniel KEMP of Eastry
Susanna WOODWARD otp
Witnesses: Len Woodward, Richard Parker

Seven known children for this marriage.

Thank you Betty for all that information which I have entered on my tree.
I have found a few bits of information concerning Richard Fittall and siblings which you may or may not have got.

From the England and Wales Non Conformist Record Indexes
"Richard Fittall son of John Fittall and Anne his wife of the parish of Sibertswold was born April 30th 1822 registered June 4th 1822 by me John Giles Protestant Dissenting Minister"

"John Fittall son of John Fittall and Anne his wife of the parish of Sibberswold was born October 7th 1817 registered November 11th 1817  by me John Giles Protestant Dissenting Minister"

"William Fittall son of John Fittall and Anne his wife of the parish of Sibberswold was born May 11th 1819 registered October 8th 1819  by me John Giles Protestant Dissenting Minister"

"Stephen Fittall son of John Fittall and Anne his wife of the parish of Shepherdswell was born the fourth of August 1824 registered October the 4th 1824  by me John Giles Protestant Dissenting Minister"

These were all from Eythorne Baptist Chapel.
Interesting to see how the village name changes over a few years.

Returning to the Cruttendens I was pleased to receive your information about the Lenham Christenings but I was a bit surprised you could find no mention of George as he is consistently listed as Lenham born in the censuses. Do you think your source records are complete or could he have been baptised in one of the surrounding parishes? I really need to tie him in with John Cruttenden senior and junior to connect John and Frances to John Cruttenden and Elizabeth Harrison . If this could be proved it would make the link more likely with the Harrissons covered in the  Re:Lenham Parish Register Lookup - HARRISSON posting I mentioned. If this link could be proven it would be really great and I could probably add several generations .

I would be very grateful for the details you have on the seven known children of William and Jane Friend or indeed any other you may think of that could be relevant .

Thanks again
Elizabeth

Lenham baptisms have got a fair number of children for every year, except 1802 which shows just two & 1803 which shows only one. This must be very unusual, which makes me think a lot of baptisms for these two years are missing.

Thank you for the notes about John, William & Stephen. I didn't have this information, so will keep these notes. A Fitall (one T) is in my direct line, John Fitall born c1786 in Deal, (married Ann Wickers) Deal is near enough to Northbourne & Shepherdswell/Sibberswold to make me wonder if it's all the same family.

The children of William & Jane to follow.
