William Kenealy
« on: Saturday 28 January 12 06:04 GMT (UK) »
William Kenealy married Ellen O'Neill and they had at least one child, David Kenealy born 1858/59.  We have David's birth certificate showing Wiliam and Ellen as his parents from Waterford or possibly Cork. David came to Australia and married Matilda Robertson here.  We do not know if William came out too or if he stayed in Ireland or moved to  UK or USA.   We have no other dates or relative connections to search through.  Could anyone please help with our Irish Roots.  Thanks

Sorry have made an error, it is not birth certificate of David that we have it is his marriage certificate to Matilda Robertson shows David was born in Waterford Ireland.  His father being William Kenealy and mother Ellen O"Neill.  Davids death certificate shows he was born Kilkenny Ireland.

We have followed the family down through David however cannot locate anything on William as we do not have any dates.  Apparently William was a grocer.

Any assistance you could provide would be very much appreciated.  Sorry to have confused the issue.
Cheers John

There is a William Kenealy and Ellen O'Neill having children in the parish of TEMPLEORUM (RC), Co.Kilkenny can look at these on www.rootsireland.ie they are pay for view. Don't seem to be any David but his baptism may have not be recorded. TEMPLEORUM is close to Co.Waterford.

Hi Castlemcauliff,

Thank you thank you thank you!!
We have searched all over roots ireland and never came up with any of it.  We purchased several views to no avail.
Could you please let us know how you found them, what criteria you used for a search, we are mystified.
We have tried everything and every combination we can think of but obviously are doing something wrong.
Do you have a year that we cold look for or any other info that we can put into our search.
We still cant find anything.
Thanks for all your assistance, very much appreciated. Cheers John

Catherine Kenealy Year: 1841 TEMPLEORUM (RC)

Michael Kenealy Year: 1839 TEMPLEORUM (RC)

James Kenealy Year: 1846 TEMPLEORUM (RC)

They are all a bit too early to be David siblings unless there was a large family and David was one of the youngest was common for families to have children born for 20 years or more.

If you go on www.rootsireland.ie and they select Co.Kilkenny then baptisms/births and advanced search

Parish: TEMPLEORUM (RC) and father name William Kenealy and mother Ellen O'Neill.

By the way the name was probably spelled Kenneally/Kenealy

Castlemcauliffe, you are a wonder!!!
thank you for spending your time and energy searching on our behalf, it is very very much appreciated.  We are in Australia and only stumbled upon this site a couple of days ago after searching ancestry and roots ireland for weeks for anything on William and Ellen.  You have been amazing.

The details seem to fit with the time lines we have and many of our ancestors had second marriages, had big gaps between the ages of the children 20 years is nothing and many wives had husbands 28 years older than themselves so it would not surprise us to find a big gap between Michael and David.

We will cautiously add them to our tree and follow up more on the birth/baptism records, maybe buy some of the original copies of the certificates to see if there is more info on them.

Now to start looking for William and Ellens Parents/siblings etc.
You have helped us enormously in our search, thank you again. Cheers John & Lesley

Hi Castlemcauliff,

Just an update on our search, we found the records you mentioned and think that there is a possibility that theses are the right relatives, however we are having difficulty finding and record of marriage of william and ellen or birth of David.

Another source indicated that David had a brother who married someone unknown and they had two daughters both of whom became nuns.  One named Anastasia kenealy who became known as Sister Baptista and name of the other unknown.  They immigrated to Australia and our source had contact with sister Baptista and unfortunately cannot give any more information.

Would you have any ideas on how we go about this search, we have looked for Anastasia and drawn another blank.
Any assistance would be appreciated, Cheers John
