Am seeking information on Andrew Barrie . Born Paisley in 1798. died Dumfries 1866. His obituary describes him as a Doctor but his sons Wedding certificate states that he was a chemist ( dec'd) He appears to have been a benefactor of Paisley and Dumfries and to have acquired a considerabe amount of money while working in Madras

- Who did he marry? What children did he have that you have found?

Bad transcription, but this looks to be the Andrew in 1861:

Andrew Baroni (Barrie?) 62, merchant b. Paisley
Mary Carnathan (Carruthers?) 60, sister in law, annuitant, b. London, England
Janet Carnathan 59, sister in law, annuitant, b. London, England
...and four servants

Thanks Monica and Tony for all your help. Have now got Andrew Barries-birth, marriage , business, death, will, etc. Together with his sons birth details and details of his Indian servant Razaloo. Son is believed to have lost substantial amount on collapse of City of Glasgow Bank but have not verified this

I read that you managed to find substantial data about said Andrew and I wonder If you can share it with me.
I am interested because I am married to a direct descendent of Benjamin Barrie, (b) Paysley 1795; Brother of Andrew
