Sorry do not know of any photos of the Mill Cottage, or even Bebside Mill.

On this message board there was a previous thread on " Bebside Mill"

Bebside Mill no longer exists. The site of the mill was on the opposite bank of the River Blyth to Holly Mount House at Bedlington. The location now is just an open field site. The mill was marked on the 1865 map of the area, it was marked on the 1924 map, but was not shown on the 1937 revised map of that area. There were quite a number of mills in the dene that the River Blyth ran through, some of them quite ancient, not forgetting the furnaces at the bottom of the dene and the locomotive works.

Today Bridge Cottage on the east side of the River Blyth bridge, south of Bedlington (the A193) is the last remaining vestige of what was once there. Todays mapping shows a lane down to the mill site, but it is in fact a private drive with no public access that I am aware of.

I am not aware of any photographs or publications that might have information about Bebside Mill.  :'(

 Philip,

If I stood on Bedlington road/foot bridge, facing up to Bedlington, Bebside Mill would be to my right in Bebside Wood.
Humford Mill would be to be to my left in Humford Wood.

I completely reviewed my reply above. Hope it helps. I also hope the map link works, it is the first time I have tried it.

Unfortunately I do not have many old photos of Bebside, my birth environment.

However I remember a photo of the house on the Bebside side of Bedlington Bridge
(Not the Furnace Bridge). This was the Toll house for charging the halfpenny fee for
folk passing through the Halfpenny Wood of Bebside Wood.
( The Toll Collector got rehoused from that house to the first house in Cowpen Estate
at No 1 Weardale  Avenue in 1951/2- my family from Bebside Colliery got No8 )

This photo showed other houses deeper into the wood, and I think one of these may
 have been Bebside Mill/cottage ?

After reading the message regarding Bebside Mill I was having a look through Free Reg website and came across the following when looking for Hunters in Northumberland.

Mary Hunter wife of John Hunter burial date 23 March 1808 age 76 at St Mary the Virgin Horton.  Abode Bebside Mill , Husband  miller died 21 March 1808.

I was not sure where Bebside mill was but my grandad lived in a house in the woods on the Bedlington side of the river until about 1969(ish).

 Barbara,

If you follow the Philip's map link at message #2, you will position where Bebside Mill was, opposite the Bedlington side of the river.
