An earlier marriage has Nathaniel Pinegar marrying in 1863, Dursley, with possible wife, Eliza Perry.

A death of Eliza Pinnegar is registered in  Mar 1868.

Hi Genjen

thank you for your reply

I am quite confused re the Pinngar/Pinnegor family !

The reason I say this is because I cannot find them on the 1871 under Nathaniel Pinnegor the above family name, yet they appear on the 1881, on 1891 there is a Josiah and Ann, also Nathaniels daughter Agnes, born 1877 when she married a Henry Glenn her fathers name given on the marriage lines is Joseph Pinnegar
also I can't find the birth of Nathaniel in 1824

I'd appreciate your thoughts on the above, maybe a fresh pair of eyes might help !!!

Kind regards

Tom

They are listed under Pinnegar, in Wotton under Edge, Gloucestershire. Nathaniel, Ann, Mary Ann, Kate and George...

.....RG10/2592/22/13

I can give full details if you want them but maybe you can find it yourself with this information and can then see the original image.

Hi Tom,

I am wondering if you ever solved this mystery?

Nathaniel Josiah Pinnegar is my Great Great Grandfather on my mothers side. I was doing a little research into this side of the family but got stuck - as you did - on Nathaniel.

I have his birth in 1822 (cannot find the actual date or birth entry record) in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire . and I found out more through frustration and luck that he liked to be called "Josiah" as this is how it is recorded on his marriage Entry Record to Ann Reynolds although the Scribe who filled in his details recorded him as "Josiah Pinegar" I have seen this recorded on the FreeBMD site as "Joseph" but when you look at the document it is clearly "Josiah". However this does make research difficult.

I have his occupation down as a Railway Labourer in Warcop, Westmorland.

And I have his death on 23rd July 1896 in St Marylebone Infirmary, which was the infirmary connected to the Marylebone Workhouse - there is an article ( and a nice BW Impression) about the workhouse and the "casual Ward" (read Infirmary) here: http://www.workhouses.org.uk/StMarylebone/

All of his 11 children had different places of birth and twice it is mentioned that they were born in the 'Huts' or "The Railway Huts". He obviously moved round throughout his life as the railway was rolled out throughout the UK. This would also be why I seem to have so many distant relatives all over the country!

Any more information on his life and especially his marriages would be of interest to me.  :)

Many thanks

Fanflame

Hi Fanflame

I was researching the Pinnegar/Pinnegor family for an old friend of mine, who is now well into her eighties and resides in Canada.

If I remember right the name Glenn came into it, I will look into my notes and see what I can find.

Kind regards

Tom
