Hi Lady Hawk

You are a great detective...!! thank you for all those links.

No My gran was buried in the same cemetery as my grand dad Edward.

I have seen the graves of both of them but the grave listed in her book cites an" old man Taylor" and a grave no.

I think that could be Edward's Father my GG -

 I don't have a name only a grave no.

I think the old cemetery used to be at Bidadari. The graves have all been exhumed and built over but I found an email address for a Mr Teo Eng Chuan yec2[at]hdb.gov.sg

He was handling the claims from family before the graves were exhumed in 2006 - he may be worth  contacting and I will try in the morning and see what response I get.

I was hoping the grave number  would give me my GGrandfather's name at least and info of his birth and death date.

thank you so much for you help.

Good Morning Tammy

Something as been niggling me about the birthday book, I am wondering if it was originally Connie's, or could it  have been handed down, is it all the same handwriting???

Hi Marg

You are such a sweetheart for still helping me.

Before I reply - I emailed the two contact people in Singapore about the graves and have yet to get any reply - so waiting. A friend in the Uk is trying to track down an address for me that may prove useful.

Ok the birthday book-
no its not all the same handwriting- it looks like each person has filed in their own birthday in the book...some with really simple handwriting and others in a beautiful scrawl....I have happy to have it at least

For interest sake the birthday book is a small burgundy book about 6'' by 4''  . It called " The Loving Record and Daily Remembrancer" and was published by Ward, Lock and Co Ltd London. There is no publisher date. But its all worn and has been taped together in the cover..

I love old books.

My grans name is written down on the front - just her name which is unusual for her as she usually writes her name and the date to things - I have her own recipe book.

Do you think it handed down? There seems t be birthdays of family , and then some which look like friends...

I will go check out the link.

if all else fails - I will try to get that birth cert from the Singapore archives...though I dont have all the info they want yet..but I will try.

Thank you lots Marg

Hi Tammy, the only way to search these records I think, is in person,or to  pay for a researcher to do it for you, the only other thing I can suggest is to put look up request on the London Forum, unless you know someone in London who can do it for you, I think that this your best lead yet and worth pursuing

Hi Tammy

You can make a general inquiry on this link, just give them reference from the POW link I sent earlier, and all the information you have on him, and see what comes of that.

Marg

Sorry I forgot the link another OAP moment and blond as well
