Hello Avongirl,
Major Edward Momby was a Lincolnshire lad born abt 1690 In Brocklesby to Edward Momby And Elizabeth Alcock.
This Edward 1659 - 1698 Brocklesby was the son of
John Momby (abt 1614 to John Manby 1588, John Manby 1551, William Manby and Alison) and
Rebecca HarnessRe the Scots magazine, i believe twas normal in those days to post in various publications around the country.
I haven't found any clues yet for Mary Anderson. There are some Anderson families nearby. Maybe have to look for Anderson wills to see if she could be mentioned? Also have to wonder if Anderson was actually her married name...I did try to find a death for her...I could have missed it though as gave me eyestrain!
I have the marriage bonds for children Mary Momby to Rev. Abraham Wallett (my ancestor) in 1765 witnesses Eliz Knowles and (can't read) signed by George turner (his mark).
Abraham, a grazier of Sutton, was a bondsman along with George Turner, of Tydd St Giles, a farmer.
and Ann Momby aged 22 to Rev. Burton Rayner aged 21 in 1764. Witnesses Richard Vesey (Surrogate) and Mary Vesey.
Could this Mary be related? maybe Mary Anderson??
Hope this helps, Hilary x
I also have a copy of a sermon of Abraham's in 1789 and a transcript of the church monument at his death.
No one can be recall'd by tears

Hi AngelFish
I also downloaded the will Of Edward Momby/Mumby also hard to read.
I have searched knowing he was a Major in the British army.
From 1739 to 1749 he was Stationed in Ireland Dombarton I think.
He had two daughters by a Mary Anderson I'm wondering if she was Irish and the girls born in Ireland?
Also Edward was also in the Scots Magazine.
Edward died 1762 Somersby thought he may not have been born in England at all.
in the will I found two other names Robert Chapman and ? I forget the other name
What do you all think need some feed back.
I don't know if Abraham Wallett has a headstone back in Suffolk. Would be very hard for me living in Australia.
I feel for his family I found one son died on a Voyage with the east india company he drowned and was only 17.5 years not even 18. Cannot find the other son who died later.
