on line fully searchable Burial records
« on: Sunday 18 March 12 18:27 GMT (UK) »
This is just a general query.
Manchester & Tameside in the North of England have a brilliant database for finding graves in the locality including the cemetery, plot and grave numbers . I was wondering if there are any other parts of the country that have this facility on line, regularly maintained and updated. I am particularly interested in Stockport, Burslem in Staffordshire, Southport in Lancashire and Bebbington on the Wirrall

As your query covers other counties, I suggest trying the resources section for each county - eg for Cheshire:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,351.0.html

The sites you mention for Manchester & Tameside are for local authority cemeteries - you may find others via the local council's website - they may be listed under headings such as "life events" as well as the more straightforward burials or cemeteries.

Wishful Thinking that Susan has linked has coverage of both council cemeteries and churchyards for Staffs & surrounding areas. It used to be fully searchable (handy if you don't already know where someone was buried) but the function is now more limited. This link takes you to the list of counties they have some information for:

Southport cemetery records are not online. You have to contact Southport Crematorium who hold the recprds for Duke Street cemetery and Birkdale cemetery

Southport Crematorium

Address:

Southport Crematorium
Southport Road
Scarisbrick

Postcode:
 PR8 5JQ

Email:
southport.crematorium@sefton.gov.uk

Telephone:
 01704 533443

With a date of death they will check their records. If you want all the people in a grave there is a small charge.
