John Bellamy (1683-1745) Family
« on: Saturday 31 March 12 21:03 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information on the Bellamy family.  I have been researching the family for the past few months for my grandparents 60th anniversary/family reunion.  My grandpa doesn't know much about his family and is really interested in it.  His great grandfather John Bellamy (abt.1822) married Jane Cathcart and at some point immigrated to Canada (btw 1841-1846). If anyone can help me out that would be great, or if anyone is looking to extend their tree I would be glad to share information.

Have you seen the trees on Ancestry.com?

There is an extensive one for the Bellamy family, which gives John's birth date as c1819 in Laughterton, Lincolnshire.
It includes family photographs etc.

The baptism is on this link http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=543412&iid=274253

Part of the tree is also on this link http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=zmaster&id=I13248
but doesn't include John's family in Canada

Regards,
David

Thanks David

I have most of the Canada info covered, if anyone needs that I would be glad to share.  My biggest challenge is John and Jane's marriage, and when they came to Canada.

How do you know Jane's maiden name of Cathcart?  Regardless of what may be on an Anc***** tree, can you give any more information as to the place(s) involved?
Someone may be able to give you more help.

NC.

Something that you probably know, but is missing from the Canadian tree, is that John married again in Drayton 1907 to Mary Bawten (looks like a transcription error) nee Letson. He was 82 and gives his parents as John Bellamy and Ann Gullen.

My wife had an ancestor who lived further south in Simcoe and he married again at the age of 76. In both cases, the wives were much younger.

No sign of John's first marriage.
