McKeon/McKeough
« on: Friday 06 April 12 23:06 BST (UK) »
Hello all,
I'm looking for any guidance in finding the family of my 3g grandmother.

She was born about February 1846 in Louth from her death records.   Her parents were Peter McKeon/McKeough and Mary O'Brien.   We see the name spelled McKeon, McKeogh, McKeough among others on documents.

She was in Glen Cove, NY by the early 1860s.  She married James Kenary/Kinneary/Keneary/Kiniry (again so many different versions here!) on 20 February 1864.    We believe she emigrated about 1860.

I know it's little to go off, but I'd appreciate any tips or leads.

Thank you.

Since your 3g grandmother's birth is well before the start of full civil registration in Ireland (1864) you would need to check for parish records to find details for her and his family. To start this you first need to know the family religion and where they lived at the time, i.e. which parish, so you can check what records (if any) are available.

For details of records available in the county see the resources topic at the top of the Louth board and also :
