The Crescent is that crescent shaped road in the middle

Move the map a bit to the east and you'll find Carolgate.

Hi Eileen,

The Crescent and Pelham Road/Street are as mentiones in previous post and shown on the map, but I'm not sure if it came under Ordsall.  It is now in Retford and is quite a few miles from Elkesley.

Carolgate is, or was the main thoroughfare through the town of Retford until the dreaded pedestrianisation took place.

It is very narrow and was part of the original A1.  Can you imagine all the current traffic passing through the town now?  It was very scary in the late 60's and 70's when I moved to the area.  When a lorry or bus came through you had to pin yourself to the walls.

My father was a driver in the RAF in the late 50's and he had to drive lorries through in convoy yikes!!!!!!!!!!
