So Thomas was born 1875.

They are not enrolled to vote at Camperdown after this date.  Too many Ethel May's and Thomas's to identify them individually in the rolls.

Thanks Cando, this is immensely helpful information, which I hadn't come across previously (as I hadn't thought to use Electoral Rolls). Well Done!
William (unmarried, resident at Warracknabeal for some time) was a brother to Thomas, also thought to have moved to Melbourne suburbs as a baker, lost track of him at that stage.  I have William (assumed) to have died in 1944 in his late 80's, possibly explains why "no occupation" (? retired?) by the 1940's.
Thomas's birth was registered in 1875, begs the question as to whether it was registered the same year as the birth (re' your record of the 82 y.o. @ Hampton in 1954).
More work required but thanks to you, new lead/s - again, many thanks.
Regards, Clarke.

I don't think more work is required. Always bear in mind the information, including ages, on death certificates are invariably inaccurate and especially in this case as there doesn't appear to be any family living with him to give accurate information to the funeral directors.  My next step would be to purchase the image of the certificate from Vic bdm as it possibly will have some identifying information eg widower, occupation or former occupation and place of birth.

What about his probate file at PROV?

ROBERTSON William
Father George  Mother Agnes ORMISTON
At East St Kilda  87 years  1944  Reg#10815

And he also has a probate file at PROV
ROBERTSON William, Gent,    Melbourne    24 Aug 1944    361/319    VPRS 28/P3, unit 4084; VPRS 7591/P2, unit 1269

You need to spend a few dollars to validate the research.

Thanks again Cando.  It's been about 10 years since I've done any serious research on the Robertson line, information seems to be a tad more accessible nowadays.  I plan to take your advice.

My Grandmother was a niece to the William & Thomas mentioned.  Sadly she died during the early 1980's, just prior to my taking an interest in FH.  Due to carry-over of Victorian attitudes with surviving descendants, I found it difficult to make inroads to this line, but am pleased with findings to date.  My Grandmother's Mum married a chap who deserted her (after 6 children) which was a skeleton in the family closet and resulted in a hush-hush approach to FH by the children (incl' my Grandmother - and the only person she had shared any information with, her daughter [my Aunt]).  That was part of the problem I faced in determining FH on that line. PROV (back in the days when they were at Laverton) provided invaluable records including of my Grandfather spending time in goal (for "failing to provide support" his children, he disappeared after completing his sentence).
IF William or Thomas have surviving current generation descendants, it would be good to exchange knowledge.
Regards, and (again) thanks for your assistance.
Clarke.
