Francis Kerr and Janet Gibson
« on: Tuesday 01 May 12 14:57 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone… I'm chasing Francis Kerr and Janet Gibson who married in Dumfries 21 Jan 1833. They had two children Christina (b 1833) and Robert (b 1835) before moving to Liverpool prior to the next child in 1838. Francis is listed as a cabinet maker in all the Liverpool censuses until his death in 1884.

If anyone can add parents (or anything) to these two, well, I'll befriend you for life! :-)

I discovered Francis and Janet's grave recently in Liverpool, so even if you can't add anything but have an interest in the gravestone then send me your email in a private message and I'll send the photos on to you.

Thanks for reading…

keith

Francis Kerr died 23 Jan 1884 aged 70 in Liverpool, so born 1814 in Dumfriesshire.

Janet Gibson died 2 Aug 1870 aged 59 again in Liverpool, so born 1811 in Dumfriesshire.

Thanks, Stoop, I appreciate the time and effort. I now need to try and tie any of those names into my tree. I'd also like to visit Dumfries for a few days in the summer to perhaps look for gravestones etc...

Again, thanks for your suggestions...

Hi Keith,
Can I butt in here?  Here is a suggestion !
Have a look at http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~dfsgal/
and take a virtual trip around about 60 D&G graveyards.
I'm hoping to update this site soon.

It is likely that Janet's mother's name was Christina and that Robert was Francis' father. There is a Christina, widow, with a daughter Christina on the Dumfries '51 census.

Just enter Torthorwald and household 5/30

On the '41 census it looks like the same Christina with a son James, who is a journeyman joiner, aged 22
