The earliest I have the Coopers in Wicklow was in 1816.  I'm not sure where they were before that.

I am researching TWISS of Kerry. Looking for information earlier than on site. However, just as a coincidence I am looking at Burkes 1863 edition  It says  Frank Twiss who married Jane Parsons had a daughter Mary married to ....Gregory Esq. circa  1685 estimated mar.date by me. Thats Twiss of Bird Hill, and another edition   1853 Burkes says she was married to my ancestor .....Radley.Burkes is not always correct. Could have been 2nd husband, They died off quickly in those days.

What I am looking for is  whether Richard Twiss  born 1610 who married third wife Jane in 1642 had a daughter called JANE who was born estimated 1645. Any help gratefully received. I have website Radleys of Cork and want to add page on TWISS. of Birdhill and Anna and  Parteen(same family) Kerry.  This was no help I know that, to your latter day search, but interesting.

Were the Coopers from County Clare?
Yes.  They were from Co. Clare.  Can not recall just where.  Good luck!  Shannah TWISS

Hi Tara,

Thanks for your reply.  This is definitely the correct Twiss family and I believe Francis William is the son of the couple I'm looking for.

Francis Twiss married Margaret Cooper in 1846 and I've found her death in Kiltigan in 1882.

Gregory is another matter.  John Gregory is 25 years  older than his wife on the census records so perhaps it was his second marriage.  I hope if I buy that certificate it will say he was a widower but it still won't give me his first wife's name and there doesn't seem to be a match for an earlier marriage.

Hopefully I'll find a family member who can set me right on this.

Thanks,
Jan.

Jan,  Please, clarify.  Who were Francis William TWISS' pars.?

Thank you.

dathai,

Thank you so very much for replying.  :)  It, also, gives me the dates which are lacking in my searches and in the 1901 and 1911 Censuses.

Have you any updates on the TWISS and COOPER marriages, please?

Twissy
