Hi,

The Gwynedd Family History booklet I have for Capel Salem, Llanllyfni shows an 1882 entry for Owen Hughes (Plot 488) buried June 22, age 81 - address shown as Voel. Is this your man?

There are also other entries for Voel, Llanllyfni as follows -

Plot 705 - Owen Hughes and Catharine Hughes age 3 and 1, buried Oct 18 1890
Plot 668 - John Hughes age 13, buried April 3 1889
Plot 407 - Ellin Hughes - no age shown, buried Nov 4 1879

Hi
I have added Owen Hughes's info into my ancestry tree..Im stuck now on John Hughes his son.he was born in 1841 in the clynnog area..and died in january 1908.married to Mary 1850-1927.Owen hughes is buried with his grandson john hughes died at 13 years of age.Which is where the confusion was..Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

The Salem Capel booklet mentions -

1921 - Mary Hughes of Y Foel  buried Oct 2 age 75 (Plot 1196) and
1927 - John Hughes of Y Foel buried Feb 6 age 86 (Plot 1226)

The booklet says Gwrandawr next to Mary's entry - not sure what this means but if you know perhaps you would explain.

I realise the dates conflict with what you have said, but is this the family?

Alan

PS there is also another possible family member in Plot 1327 - David Hughes of Foel in the year 1939 buried Aug 19 age 70.

Yes they are thank you..the problem i had is currently there are foel uchaf (where i live), foel isaf, foel ganol and foel dryll.but at that time census state that john thomas was at foel isaf so im going with what you said.on the census i read it said about before the dates therefore im going with the gravestones).gwrandawr is a weird one..sounds like listener translated..but maybe its old welsh as thats a different language altogether..Thanks Again very helpfull.

Just to complete (or confuse) the picture there are more graves showing for Foel Uchaf -

Grave 503 - Owen Hughes  24 Feb 1883 age 9
Grave 523 - Jane Hughes  3 Nov 1883 age 6

and one for Voel Isaf -
Grave 989 - Isaac Hughes Dec 18 1902 age 9

and another for Voel Ucha -
Grave 811 - Sophia Hughes - Oct 11 1894 age 10

Hope this helps
