wrong person unfortunately

Very strange - age and birthplace are a perfect match.  Do you have her birth cert?

Hi

Is this thread anything to do with the Dorothy on another thread of yours?
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,603803.msg4533201.html#msg4533201

Are you really asking for a list of
Dorothy X born 1903 Luggershall(Pewsey)?

Yet all the following can be accounted for . . . . .
Jul - Dorothy Dunford
Jan - Annie Dorothy Flippance
Oct - (Dorothy) Gladys Gollop
Apr - Dorothy Margaret Rawlins
Jan - Dorothy Georgina Robbins
Oct - Edith Dorothy A Wiltshire

and Dorothy Maud Mundy Apr 1905 Pewsey

Regards

Ray

Was your grandmothers maiden name Bartholomew or Parker?

Who did she marry and when?

Hi,
My gran's maiden name is Parker on the marriage certificate. She was adopted by Emily and William Parker in Hawkhurst Kent.According to the 1911 census she was born in Ludgershall Wiltshire. I was checking her children's births and found 2 entries different both were entered as Blake, one actually crossed out from Blake and Parker put in. So from that I then had her original surname....maybe.I now have a photo of her and her mother and that had Lilian wrote on it. My gran's first daughter was called Lilian so I am also assuming the mother's name is correct. The Lilian in the photo is wearing a wedding ring so I thought Blake would be her married name. But still no trace. And unfortunately all Dorothys that I have found in that area are traceable. The birth year could be out by a bit. The information I have is my gran travelled from Ludgershall to Hawkhurst in a coach and she was about 5 years old. I can find no connection with the Parkers to Ludgershall nor to any Blakes. It seems odd to send a child that far without any family connections for adoption. I have tried for years to do this and am now on the verge of letting it go.  I really have no idea if Dorothy was her birth name or her adopted name though I would think to change it at 5 years old would be too confusing for her. I also do not know if her birthdate is correct. This is all the information I have to go on which is so frustrating for her elderly children who now want to know.
I really do appreciate the help that has been given on this subject.
Many Thanks
Sue

By the way Dorothy Parker married George Harris in Cranbrook Kent in December 1920.It was witnessed by Emily Parker as her husband was deceased by then. I will also add no copies of her birth certificate are know. She was also  married by special certificate.

What was her birthday (day, month), so far as you know?  Do you know what her death registration says about her birthdate?

What was her middle name according to the marriage cert? (it is indexed with middle initial M).

Hi,
Thanks for a quick response. The birthdate we have for her is 10th March 1903.Her death certificate states a birth year of abt 1903 and the area of birth is given as England. Most unhelpful to say the least. I have questioned my aunts and uncles and they have told me she never spoke about these things but my Father told me she had a visit from her mother once or twice. At least he believes it was her mother. She was always upset after the visits so I have no reason to question this. I too thought the death certificate would help but alas no.The marriage certificate has Dorothy Maud Parker on it.
Many Thanks
Sue

OK.  So Maud might be another name to search on, if you've drawn a blank on suitable Dorothys.

I have never thought of searching that way. Thank you.
