Woodford Family
« on: Sunday 08 July 12 09:46 BST (UK) »
Now that I'm at it I may aswell try mum's father's side aswell. Which like the rest is also an unknown family. My mothers father was Raymond Leslie Woodford born 1930-31? - 2008, his father was a Bernard Woodford though I don't know dates of birth nor his mother. I believe he had a second family after divorcing my grandmother over 30-35 years ago maybe longer. And I'm the first to admit I'm quite computer illiterate so I have no clue the sites to go on to find info, though We're very appreciative of all the help you lovely people have given.

There's a Raymond Leslie Woodford in Queensland  with a Bernard Woodford, builder and Olive Amelia Woodford, home duties in 1954.
They're at 27 Wyllie Street, Redcliffe.

Thank You Dee, does any information confirm if Raymond Leslie Woodford passed away in 2008? That was information given to our family.

Sorry.....a search of the Ryerson Index doesn't reveal a newspaper announcement of his death, and indexes are not available to 2008.   :-\

At present the Queensland BMD index doesn't seem to be available so I can't search for a marriage of Bernard and Olivia.

Thank You I appreciate your help,  It's very confusing as we know he had 4 children to my Grandmother, then remarried someone unknown and had 3 more children, so It's very confusing.

In 1980 he appears to be by himself. He's listed as a farm hand at Brookstead in Queensland.
But in 1972 there appears to be a Della (Delia?) May with him.

http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/using/search/
 - shows an emigration document from 1949 for Bernard Woodford and wife Olive Amelia - although on the index it only lists 5 children, within the document Raymond is listed (with his birthdate!) but I think crossed through because he was 18 and thus probably had to apply separately.  Bernard and his family came over on a scheme for ex-servicemen, so there's a lot of information about his military service in the file.

There is then a separate document in the file for another brother (older than Raymond), which fits the "seven children" mentioned in this newspaper article:
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/22796137?searchTerm=%22Bernard%20Woodford%22&searchLimits=

Raymond Leslie also has an emigration file, which is separate (but has much the same information as the others).

Brisbane cemeteries can be searched here:

(but right now it doesn't seem to be responding for me).

Yes Della May is my grandmother, I've found out that they had 4 kids and he adopted my mums 3 oldest siblings from a different father, and they married in 1972, and she left him in 1979. So we know nothing after that. Only that he had surposivly passed away. Thanks for that info.
