Aikin, Atkin, Aitkin, Aitken.....
« on: Saturday 08 September 12 01:37 BST (UK) »
I just made a connection from my ancestor John Aikin (married Mary Skelton in Cum, ENG) back to what appears to be his parents Richard Aikin & Jane(t) Little in Canonbie, Dumfries, SCT.
Richard & Jane(t) married 24 Jun 1773 in Canonbie and had the following children there:
____ Aitkin chr. 5 Mar 1774;
John Aitkin b. 2 Jan 1776, chr. 7 Jan 1776 Canonbie;  (OUR JOHN)
David Atkin b. 2 Feb 1781, chr. 4 Feb 1781 Canonbie;
Frances Aitken b. 16 Feb 1783, chr. 23 Feb 1783 Canonbie;
William Aitken b. 17 Jan 1786, chr. 29 Jan 1786 Canonbie;
Janet Aitken b. 24 May 1790, chr. 13 Jun 1790 Canonbie;
James Aikin  chr. 25 Dec 1805 Dalston, CUM, ENG.

that puts us back another generation YIPPEE!
any connections out there?
any additional info much appreciated!
ideas about where to go now....
thanks!!
