Brasenell marriages - Childs Ercall & Stoke -upon-Tern
« on: Thursday 20 September 12 11:32 BST (UK) »
I am researching a Brasenell family and whilst I have located many christenings I am finding it difficult to verify marriages as per following -
1. Richard Brasenell married Elizabeth ? and had children William (1663), Richard (1666), James (1671) & Samuel (1678), all baptised in Childs Ercall
2. Samuel Brasenell married Ann ? and had children Mary (1711), Samuel (1714), William (1717), Thomas (1720), Richard (1724) & Anne (1728), all baptised in Childs Ercall
3. Samuel Brasenell married Elizabeth ? and had children Richard (1732), Frances (1733), Samuel (1736), Sarah (1738), William (1741) & Elizabeth (1752), all baptised in Stoke-upon-Tern.
4. John Brasenell married Frances ? and had 11 children betrween 1774-1794 all baptised in Edgmond.
Can anybody help me to verify these marriages?

Hi

Not the easiest family to research; I'm sure there is a conspiracy to hide the male line marriages  ;D

Having said that, if we look at John Brasenell, (Brazenell) and Frances (Icke). 2 Trees; Tribal pages and Ancestry have them as follows:
Note, these are the most practical of the facts between the 2.
John Brazenell b. 1742; married 1774 (Longford); bur. 14 Dec 1835 aged 93. Burial is the only confirmed fact, others are unconfirmed.
Frances Icke b. c1753; married 1774; bur. 24 Aug 1817. Burial only confirmed fact.
They had 11 children, all b. Edgmond except Eliza b. Newport 1776.

I did find 2 other male marriages both in respective PR's:
13 April 1724 Thomas Brasenell & Margaret Poynter, Kinlet, banns, mar.
18 Dec 1760 John Brazenell & Joyce Bird, by Ed. Evans, Curate (signs to 1781), Neen Savage, mar. This could be John b. 1742, though there is some distance between Neen Savage and Longford.

If it is of any help there are 6 female Brazenell marriages in Edgmond between 1787 and 1811, if you would like them let me know.
