From the medical and surgical journal of John, convict ship for 16 July to 6 November 1833 by Arthur Savage, Surgeon Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in conveying 260 convicts from England to Van Diemen's Land.

John FOLLARD, aged 20, convict; sick or hurt, opthalmia; put on sick list 12 November 1833, discharged 6 December 1833 to duty.

John FOLLARD was tried at the Old Bailey, January 1833 and sentenced to 14 years transportation for "larceny, before convicted of felony".

Prison Hulk Registers show him on the Cumberland, moored at Chatham, until he sailed.  He was received on the hulk from Newgate Prison.

Transportation register shows him on the ship John, leaving 3 Aug 1833 for Van Dieman's Land

He allegedly stole a 'show-glass' and 3lb of sweets - total value of 7shillings and sixpence.  A prior conviction was shown 'by the name of Peter Reynolds' for a previous stint in 'the house of correction '
