Are you sure Matthew Snr and Sarah travelled in 1834?  This site only lists the children, incl Matthew jr:

Mathew snr is listed at Prussia St in 1821/22
Possibly his last directory listing?

On the web I have found a John Hawkins, tennant farmer, born Enniscorthy, Wexford, Ireland who married Eiliza Bacon b. Dublin.  They had 4 children.
....

be careful with these 'online' trees. The are often unreliable, and usually these are unsourced and impossible to verify. In many cases the dates given come from before the start of parish records.

Have you written to any of the courts in Dublin about Mathew Hagarty or the National Library of Ireland, Kildare Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.

Hi johnjensen

No I wasn't sure if the parents came with the children.  In my records in said "wife of H. S. Reid came from Ireland to Port Hope in 1837 to farm near Bowmanville with her 4 brothers, Mathew, Henry, John Hawkins & Anthony."

From what you sent to me it appears that the children came without them.

Thanks for the records,

anngar

Hi Rathmore

Interesting that 3 of the boys listed occupation as Mariner, Marine.  I found Henry's occupation as Tourist funny.  I would like that job.
I have seen the biography of John before.  The my hero site was one of the sites where I had obtained the name Ann Elizabeth Hawkins as Mathew Sr's wife.

Writing to  the courts in Dublin about Mathew Hagarty or the National Library of Ireland is a good idea.

Thanks,

anngar
