Hello Spades...

Thanks for looking.

I'll cross my fingers and hope that KiwiGirl is able to check the Passengers Register at Auckland Archives.

Thanks again
Beg

On a similar note, would anyone have referenced the following at Auckland Archives...

Auckland Provincial Government ‘Register of Applications for Passages 1859-1872’

http://archway.archives.govt.nz/ViewFullItem.do?code=22010677

The above PapersPast article mentions Messrs Lusk and Whitaker who were respectively the Provincial Accountant and Provincial Superintendent of Auckland. I think the emigration bonds mentioned in the PapersPast article (or corresponding info) would, if anywhere, be found in the above file.

Has anyone referenced the file and if so is it indexed. If my Wellington request proves to be a bust I may have to look into an Auckland Archives look-up but definitely not if the file is un-indexed.

Thanks very much
Beg

Howdy,

I did get a look at that book last fortnight.  I photographed the whole thing as I forgot if you were after Maher or the Lusk Whitaaker folks. I have started to tidy up the files and I will post it on a shared file site if it is too big to email and you can play hide and seek with the good people of days gone by.

;)

Hi KiwiGirl...

Thanks for this. Certainly not what I was expecting.

I thought it would simply be a list of surnames on a microfilm.

I await with anticipation :-)

All the best
Beg

Hi , I am a Maher also and I have been trying to find more information on my genealogy.
Thomas Maher from Porirua was my great great grandfather, he married to Mary Walsh in 1867
My grandmother said they owned a big farm in Porirua, and were quite wealthy.
