Old street names in Cambuslang West
« on: Tuesday 13 November 12 20:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone

I am trying to find Burnside Buildings? This is where my G'Grandma lived on the 1911 census.

It seems to be a tenement I think, there are at least 8 families listed as living at no6.  It is reported as Cambuslang West.

Any help would be appreciated as always.

These are really good pics! Funny I remember Cambuslang/Eastfeild/Kirkhill area well, my first girlfriend was from Eastfield & most of my school mates. Ah..happy days, long gone! Everything leads back to the area between Hallside and Mill St Rutherglen. Getting a really good picture of the last three generations.

I've been trying to locate the Burnside Buildings too.  I have reason to believe that they were the 3-storey sandstone tenement buildings around Bothwell Street and Glasgow Road at the west end of Cambuslang.   I suspect they were so-called because the Eastfield Burn flowed just to the west of the buildings and not due to the proximity of the Burnside area of Rutherglen.
