Anstey records
« on: Thursday 22 November 12 11:28 GMT (UK) »
I need to find the birth register for a frederick Knight circ 1864/5 he was an Anstey man and the Knights had lived in Anstey for many years.  I dont have his parents christian names but his mothers maiden name was Robinson. He was my grandad William Edward Knights father.  Any help would be welcome as im near to drawing a blank with this one.

Who did Frederick marry and when?

Do you have a copy of his marriage cert showing his fathers name and occupation?

Did Frederick have any middle name?

Was William Edward Knight born 1900 Leics?

Where did you get Robinson from as Frederick's mothers maiden name?

I can't find any Knights in Anstey (Leicestershire) until 1911? ???

Then William (b 1876) and Mary (1877) and children.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

1901 has a Willie Knight parents Frederick & Alice but Frederick was b Yorks 1871
 and Alice was nee Baker

There is an 1871 entry for a Frederick Warner Knight - parents Frederick (b Anstey)  & Selina.  I discounted it as Selina was nee Murby not Robinson

There is no Knight/Robinson marriage in Leics on freebmd in the 1860's - nearest is 1850 Oakham - Henry Knight but the IGI shows he married Julia Littledyke

I think you will need a copy of Fredericks marriage cert.  No match to an Anstey birthplace pre-1911

See these 1871 entries - quite a number match the birthyear but not the specific birthplace

Thanks so much Danone ...ive heard Anstey is a small village or was my line of Knights seem to have come from there, my father also had an uncle Arnold Knight who run an off licence in Cosby in Leicester.  The Knights seem to have been deocrators, and fairground painters maybe of gypsy origin.  Maybe there is a local church in Anstey where their records could be found.
