Someone has a tree on Rootsweb but they have no details other than names with the exception of death dates in Canada. Seems that Aldernay bmd's are hard to come by.

I think all of these are very likely your Thomas but I can't get any further back. Bah!
I wonder if there would be any more details on the actual film so would it be worth ordering it at your nearest familysearch centre?

Unfortunately familysearch has no film of Aldernay records. I think I need to go through the Preaulx Library in Guernsey and see if they will do a search.
