In 1881, Samuel is a Railway Engine Driver.

A tree I looked at has Jane in 1861 as granddaughter to John Elliot in Llanelly. Do you have Samuel's father's name?

Found that John Elliott in 1841 as Ellrott - has son Samuel and other children including Selina who appears in 1861 with John her father and Jane born 1852, so it looks to be the right family.

Hi Heywood. Sounds good to me, but you've lost me a bit (it doesn't take much) ha ha. Can you explain a little.
Thanks,

One tree that was mentioned has Jane living with grandfather John (he also a daughter Selina with him).
1841 has John as Ellrott (rather than Elliott)  with children. Amongst the children are Samuel and Selina which ties the family together. So it looks as though Jane may be Samuel's daughter.

I am inclined to think that Mary is the 'widow' in 1861.

She is living Machynys, Llanelly. She is 26 yrs and born Llangennech.

In 1851 Mary Rogers is 15 yrs, living Machynys Row and is born Llangennech.

Hi.
Yes, I suppose I am.... My great uncle Fred married Elsie James who was Mary Ann Elliott's daughter... Mary Ann Elliott was Samuels daughter.
Mary Ann Elliott was married to David James.
My great uncle Fred and Elsie went to the USA around 1920 and married out there and had three daughters.

Thanks for your reply and the information.
I had found a possible marriage of Mary Ann Elliott in 1907 but could not identify her husband. But I cannot find them on the 1911 census. Do you have the date of birth of their daughter. I would be very grateful for any more information.
If you need anymore information about Samuel Elliott and his family I happy to provide anything.

Regards
E

Hi E.
Mary Ann Elliott married David James December quarter 1907 at Llandilofawr, you could get the marriage certificate to verify this.
I have the place of birth for Elsie James down as Bargoed, South Wales.
It is some time ago that I was trying to sort this part of my tree, I seem to remember there was a discrepancy regarding Elsie's birth date and parentage.

Elsie (also known as Elsbeth) arrived in the USA on 1st April 1920 on the ship Saxonia. It states her age as 23 yrs.
It also goes on to say, her nearest relative or friend from where she came from, was a Robert Elliott of 3 Long Road, Tredegar.

On her US naturalization record it states her birth as 9th June 1895.
Her naturalization was dismissed in November 28th 1941. Reason, deceased.

There is also mention of my great uncle Frederick Hines and Elsie going to stay with her "uncle" David Elliott in Tailorville, Illinois, USA.

Hope this has helped you,
If I can help more, just ask.
Fred.
