Bristol record office
« on: Thursday 07 February 13 14:49 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone visiting the Bristol record office?

I know I am asking alot, but would love to the find the connection.

My Grandmother was  Edith Georgina Annie Shepherd born 1886 Pilning, her great grandfather x 1 George Shepherd born 1801 Almondsbury, married to  Sarah Adams.

Now though the ages alot of the sibling, cousins have Lovelace as a second name.

Just wondering if George's mother might be called Lovelace

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Capetown

Yes, a strong possibility. In 1830 George was living at "Black Horse Cribbs Causeway" which sounds like a pub to me. George dies in 1833.  His wife Sarah goes on to marry William Webb in 1835.  Have visited GRO several times but never picked that up. Thank you Capetown.

I always check first with the National Archives

Just Google:  A2a

and search - this shows you which Record Office information is kept

e.g.

by searching:  Black Horse Almondsbury

couple of hits - held at Gloucestershire Record Office including

Copy Deeds and plans and sales papers for cottage and lands on Black Horse Hill & Cribb Hill 1843

Friendly Society - 1822, Black Horse Inn, Almondsbury
