Hi Spades

This Mary TINEY appears to be "Mary Ann" (daughter of Ellen and Michael) - whose birth (along with 3 other siblings), appears on the NZ Index under the spelling of "TINAY".

I haven't been able to locate the birth registration of May TINEY (TINAY) ... although I'm fairly sure I have found her death under her married name.   (Details to follow.)

["Mary" and "May" - in one family ... very confusing.   ;D   ]

Perhaps there may be some clarification in the Police Gazettes as to date/place of birth that may clarify if Mary is May?

Hi again ballydw

I believe the following is May TINEY (who died just a year or so after her marriage).

WHITHAM - May - (married) of Rangiora (Canterbury)

Died:   11 June 1935 - aged 30 years   [bc 1905*]

Place of Birth (as noted on Cemetery record) - Peel Forest, NZ

Link to Christchurch Cemeteries Database >

http://librarydata.christchurch.org.nz/Cemeteries

-----------------------

*  Age at death [30 = bc 1905] could be incorrect  ?

[OR ... if the 1905 death of Ellen TINAY - 41years (given earlier by Twiggy), is the mother of May TINEY, then it may be that she died during or shortly after childbirth, and that the birth registration of May, was overlooked ? ]

[NZ Birth - 1880 - WHITHAM - Isaac Thomas - s/o Jane and William ]

Electoral :

In 1935 / 1938 - Hurunui Electorate (Canterbury) - WHITHAM - Isaac Thomas -  of Hayland, Labourer.

Ballydw  ... just noting (in case it's of any interest to you  ;) ), that Archives New Zealand have an already digistised WW1 Army record for Isaac Thomas WHITHAM, which is viewable here  >
