Mystery Family Member to be restored.
« on: Sunday 10 February 13 00:17 GMT (UK) »
Clematised has asked me to post this photo for her.
She hopes you can clean and restore it, but also she wondered if someone could tell her anything about the medal and pin as he is a mystery man probably from the Lloyd Family, so the info may help date the man in the picture.

Combination of textured paper and silvering-out makes for a tough photo to restore or decipher  :-\

I'd put him in the 1930s at least.  My guess is that the medals include the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, and another one that I can't see well enough to guess at.  Don't know what the lapel pin is.
I don't suppose there is any chance of a better scan of the bits in question...?

I have seen the lapel badge on mens jackets before (many many years ago)  and I thought that it was for the Lions Club but a quick check of various sites shows the centre bit is an L.

So am wondering if it is an original British Legion badge which would be more likely as the Lions I believe are purely a charity whereas many ex servicemen joined the British Legion.

The tie pin is just a straight bar used to hold the tie to the shirt.

You could be right there, Jean, as having done a quick web search for British Legion badges, it does have the same distinctive shape that they do/did.

GUIDE FOR PHOTO RESTORATIONS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SCANNER BED IS CLEAN AND SCAN AT A RESOLUTION OF 300-600 WITH THE SCALE AT 100% MINIMUM.

If you would like a coloured version, details such as hair colour , eyes and clothing etc.  if known  would be helpful to restorers

Regards Roy
