I see from the FDCA website that Mary Murray, aged 56 years, born Clyne, Sutherland, widow of William Chisholm, soldier, living at Fenton's Close, Murraygate, was buried in the Howff 22 March 1849.

There is an entry for the death of a William Chisholm on the FDCA Howff records, aged 66 in 1833, born Inverness but no further details to tie him to being 'your' man.

Given the north west connection, it might be worth looking into the military records on Find My Past, there is an entry there for a William Chisholm, born 1785, Tain.

Yes!

Just had a quick look trying to find Mary Murray/Chisholm on 1841 census but no luck - have you managed to locate her?
