District First Royal Rifle Reserve Regiment and Fourth Oxfordshire Light Infan

Hello

I was wondering if anyone could help me.  I have an ancestor Fred Bowley on the 1901 census attached to the above regiment but in Victoria Barracks in Portsmouth.  I can find no military records for him and am wondering if they were stationed at Victoria Barracks on their way to The Boer War?  Any suggestions how I go about getting some more information would be great'

There is quite a bit on the internet if you use Google, that said, it is very confusing and I can't find anything that ties in with your time-scale (I only did a quick search).   There are quite a few RC military specialists, but you may need to repost on the Armed Forces board.
