I'm not sure why you have posted this request in Scotland??

There is a likely looking LANSDOWN family (without the "e" but that is not necessarily significant) in Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan, Wales.  Harry's age is slightly older than you might expect however.  I will post it just in case.

RG11/5302 100 32

LANSDOWN John H M - coal miner - Warminster, Wiltshire
LANSDOWN Jane W M 45 - Pontypool, Monmouthshire

LANSDOWN Cathrine dau 7 - ditto - ditto
LANSDOWN William son 5 - ditto - ditto
LANSDOWN Harry son 3 - ditto
LANSDOWN Wallace son 1 month - ditto

Address: 56 Ystrad Road, Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan

I hope this is your family

Sorry about the posting i only joined today & i'm still getting used to the buttons.
I'm not sure if that's the right family as on Harry's war records  he says his birth year as 1880 .but his death certificate /headstone shows 1944 died aged 66.
Trying to find Jane's maiden name to see if it matched. Not sure ???

The only likely births on freebmd at the moment are:

Harry LANSDOWN Mar 1876 Bridgend Vol 11a page 571

Henry LANSDOWN Sep 1877 Pontypridd Vol 11a page 415

Bearing in mind that not all records have been transcribed yet.

Really not sure as his war records show birthdate :25th Oct 1880( name Harry) but headstone (name Henry)shows died 25th July 1944 age 66.
They are the same person 100%(his 90 yr daughter still living but has no background info that can help)
I have  him in 1915 being 34years old & Birthplace being Rhondda Valley South Wales.
Is there a way I can find his birth records?

Yes, there is freebmd mentioned above (not yet complete) or there is the government website, which should be complete:

www.1837online.com

The site is pay-per-view, meaning you buy a block of credits and "spend" them checking various records for your rellie.  In your case you would need to check for Harry's birth in each of the 4 quarters of 1880 (Mar, Jun, Sep or Dec) first, widening the search to a year or so either side until he is found.  Once found the record states his name the placew of registration and a reference number which can then be used to purchase the certificate if desired.  Sometimes buying the cert is the only way to be sure you have the right person, as you can check parents' details on it.

Remeber that folk often lost track of their ages, or at least their families did and by the time gravestones were being arranged the person with the best idea of how old they were is dead!

Good luck with that,

Arranroots  ;)
