Footscray Cemetery, Kent
« on: Friday 22 March 13 20:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi.
I am experiencing great difficulty in finding what has been referred to as "Footscray Cemetery", Kent. I am supposed to have Burt & Agus ancestors buried there. I doubt there will be a memorial, but it would be nice to confirm their last resting place.
Any help/suggestions appreciated.
Thanks Doidy

Hi. Thanks for that. I've tried that site but with out success. What the problem is, is we've been quoted "Foots Cray Cemetery" rather than church yard & a recent visit showed there wasn't a cemetery??????????? :'(

The Kent OPC site has details of the parishes and some burial links - but not for FootsCray unfortunately (the church is called All Saints)... http://www.kent-opc.org/Parishes/Foots%20Cray.html

There's a burial for an Elizabeth Burt at North Cray (St James) on 1 Jan 1819 aged 86

Hi.
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. Still hoping to solve this one. Elizabeth you mention has been brought to my attention before, but no link as far as I know. Burt was a common name in that area.
Good luck with your research. Diana

Hi

"Sidcup" Cemetary is 126 Footscray Lane, Bexley

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&channel=fflb&q=footscray+cemetery+kent&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&ei=7hunUbDFCISo0AWKroCwBA&ved=0CAsQ_AUoAg

Once the link opens you will have two options on the map A and B.

I think, having looked at the parish areas of Kent it looks likely that   A  may be a contender.  Click on A and it should take you there (fingers crossed!)

The other one is All Saint but I think that is just a bit too far "south" ..as the place (Footscray) is further north of the area than "B" (All Saints).. may be quite wrong.  Best of luck   :)

Susan

Just as I am posting I have now forgotten when your people died.  I had a quick look and there are (as others say) several Burts and Agus'.  Two I found died early 1800s (1830's) in the Medway area.  Maybe though if it ws that early it is too early for Sidcup cemetary.  ???
