anyone know where i can find a picture of WWI M.S.M medal?
« on: Tuesday 07 June 05 19:36 BST (UK) »
Hi, i am trying to find a picture of a WWI army Meritorious Service Medal.

I have my grandads but my digital camera is not very good and can't get a reasonable picture.

Have tried loads of medal websites but can't find a picture.

Any ideas welcome

Thanks.

Kev.

Its only one side but try

:-[ oops should have noticed the monarch .... the picture is also of a recent one.

Re your digital camera .... if you have a "macro" mode usually denoted by a symbol that looks like a small flower you can use that to try getting closer.

Hi, alan has put a photo on my other medals post on here for me.

I took a load of photos with the macro thing on and they looked good on the camera. But when i took them off the memory card and on the PC they are all blurred.

Couldn't use any of them. So i worked out what they were and downloaded pictures of them from various websites instead.

Thanks for looking.

The problem when you get in that close is "Camera Shake" .... no matter how steady we think we are the slightest movement of the camera can result in blurred unusable images.

The best solution is to use a tripod although as that is not always practical a small replacement such as a bean bag is great ... I used to have a small home made bag filled with dried lentils which worked a treat for holding the camera steady.

Thanks for that Annie you are a star.

I have got that site thanks Jane, its good isn't it.

I thought about that Falkyrn, but where do i put the medals if the camera is upright? The lentil back is a great idea.

Thanks everyone,

Kev.

Try this site - the picture is reasonable, and shows both obverse and reverse (I assume it's a British one you want)
