Locating a grave in Crookes Cemetery, Sheffield
« on: Thursday 23 May 13 15:20 BST (UK) »
Hello :)

I'm desperately trying to locate a grave in Crookes Cemetery, Sheffield. I visited it yesterday and searched and searched but couldn't find it - the cemetery is quite large! I know for a fact the grave IS in there, but I was wondering if anyone knew if there was any records of burials in Crookes that may be specific enough to help me find it? The person I am looking for was buried in 1994. I don't know if the city council have access to any records for these either, could this be an option? I've looked on Find-A-Grave but there are only about 80 graves on there I think, none of which are the one I want!

Thank-you!
I am interested in the research lines of:
Marion Morten - Sheffield
Varah Lockwood - Mexborough
Samuel Milner  - Sheffield

Might be worth contacting the Bereavement Services in Sheffield they can usually give you the information especially as you have a date.

Jemima,

It might also be worth contacting www.sheffieldindexers.com  if you go to their website they are currently transcribing the burial registers for Crookes Cemetery from 1906 to 1957.  I know that you are looking for a burial which took place at a later date than this and it is a long shot but they may have the details of later burials but are not at present in the process of transcribing them.

Best Wishes
