Would Henry have been buried in the churchyard which you mentioned? 

No, Henry is buried at CAMPELLS HILL Cemetery. There is no headstone but the burial register shows this:

GANTLE Harry
Age: 60yrs
Date of Death: 12/05/1864
Date of Burial: 13/03/1864
Religion: CoE
Section: D10
Plot: 31

Thank you for the additional information.  Do you have details of Mary's birth in 1811?, and I wonder if there are any pictures of the Campbells Hill Cemetary?

Added.. I would assume that with her age and not marrying Henry until 1854 that Powers would be the name of a first marriage maybe.

Here is all I could find on Campbells Hill. It is not being used much anymore as it really full and covered most of the Maitland area for many years.

From what you have there Muss looks like Mary's maiden name was "Newman"

I don't think the Elizabeth MA Gentle was anymore than distantly related

I wonder why Mary's death required an inquest?

Thank you for directing me to the Trove Newspapers site.

I have managed to find another two newspaper entries for Henry, where he is reported entering the annual ploughing competions in Maitland, and even winning, although he appears to be the only entrant.  I wanted to try and find out more about his life in Australia, and this was a great link.
