Not sure about that WR - Samuel would have been born circa 1834 according to the 1851 and they were married in 1828.

Whilst of course it is true about Samuel, her Tree on Ancestry looks at a much later marriage.

The tree looks a wee bit out - the marriage to a Mary Hughes was in St Asaph reg district

Don't trust Trees, WR  ;D

Yes I don't fancy the Samuel Hughes either as her first husband!

Just checked and that 1837 marriage was in Llanefydd. Both of the parish. She was 22 (b.c. 1815) and  he was 29 (b.c 1808). They got it wrong, me thinks.

I think its right to point out when looking at some of these Trees on Ancestry, the danger of looking for info that might fit,as opposed to info that will fit!

Looking at that tree, they seem to have used the GRO indexes rather than parish records - they have Edward dying in Oct 1883, Wrexham - meaning the Oct-Dec quarter, Wrexham RD  - but he was buried 29 Nov in Brymbo according to the parish record.  This would mean that thye just looked for a marriage after SR began in 1837 and took the St Asaph one as the first one where a  Mary  married an Edward Hughes  ::) ::) ::)

If followed through, this baptism record for Samuel proves that Edward and Mary were his parents:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KC5K-FYV

3 Nov 1833!

PS - WR,  you could contact the tree owner and point them to these records and their errors/assumptions made in the tree. What is worse, though, is that there are a number of other trees that seem to have copied the errors 'lock. stock and barrel'  ::)
