This is all I have found on Nags Head. Corwen.

The Wrexham Advertiser,  May 08, 1880
Mr E R Williams eldest son of Mr Williams of the Nags Head Corwen has passed the Chemistry and Botany examination at the Royal College of Surgeons London.

Deaths.
On the 5th inst aged 58 Mr John Moses Jones of the Nags Head Inn, Foregate St, Chester.

He is buried at St John the Baptist Chester, and there is a gravestone.
John Moses Jones.5 March 1865. 58. Chester.
Year is wrong, but probably because the stone is worn.

"In memory of Esther Wright died 4th day of February 1855 aged 72 years. Also John Moses Jones late of Foregate Street in this city died 5th day of March 1865 aged 58 years."

Curious ,who was Esther Wright  ???

Deaths.
On the 4th inst in the 72 nd year of her age Mrs Esther Wright of Foregate Street in this City.
The deceased had been in the service of the late Mrs Swann, of Olive Mount, near  Liverpool for a period of nearly 40 years.

Hi, Olive Mount in 1841 and 1861 is in Childwall, Wavertree, West Derby no sign in 1841 of Mrs Swann or Esther their are in 1841 many Independents/Female/Male Servants etc H0107/511/ 9/39 / 29 cannot locate in 1851 though?

I'm sorry it's taken such a while for me to reply but thank you very much to both of you for all this information!

I've found that John M. Jones was baptised as Moses Jones, and must have used John as his first name instead. His father was Richard Jones, so I'm not quite sure if he's a relation to the John Jones who ran the Nag's head in Corwen around 1790 - an uncle perhaps.

I'm not sure about Esther Wright, there is a Mary Wright on the 1851 census, so perhaps she was related to her and John in some way.

I know we are drifting here, but it is quite interesting. I would imagine that Esther worked here, they were important enough to be mentioned on her MI.

Olive Mount - the mansion - seems to have been built in the early 1790s for Mr James Swan. Swan was a grocer and tea dealer.
Gore's Liverpool Directory for 1796 lists him for the first time as living in Wavertree. He was then 47 years old, and business was obviously going well.

1851.
Mary Wright is 65 and an unmarried visitor, she is a farmers daughter born Prescott Lancashire.

Esther is described as Mrs in the newspaper report.
