Do I restore?
« on: Tuesday 09 July 13 07:20 BST (UK) »
Hello,  My husband was given a family Bible.

It is The Book of Common Prayer, Sacraments and Rites of The Church of England.
Dated Oxford 1773.

An ancestor was a minister and used this.

It is looking very sad. It is a very big book and the leather is  shabby and the pages discoloured.
I believe some years ago a restorer quoted round $5,000 to restore it.  Is this something we should try to do at all costs or could it be too late for the book.  If it is packaged in a box with special paper would it last for a number of years.  It has been stored in a pillowslip.

Would value your opinion.
Thanking you,    Annette
