Hi, I am interested in any information on the tyler family.  I know hundreds of them. Stephen tyler married to eliza in 1841 census.  Looking for ancestors of them and maiden name.  Has children: Ann of annie, John, Hannah, Charles and Arthur.

Hi Hall-Jones-Tyler

Welcome to Rootschat!

As you will know, TYLER is a not uncommon name and will be found in many parts of the UK.  So if you could give us the full details of the 1841 Census - location, reference, ages, occupation etc - to start with.

Cheers
AMBLY

Hi,  the census was the 1841 Parish of Great Maplestead.  Church St.  Stephen Tyler aged 35
Eliza tyler aged 35 Ann or Annie aged 9 John aged 7 Hannah aged 5 Charles aged 3 and Arthur aged 1.  Busy pair weren't they.

Now Family Trees have the Marriage of William TYLER to Elizabeth BRAY 1785 and that William/Elizabeth had 18ish Children between 1785-1813 (nearly 30 yrs)
Not impossible but they were very busy if true :D

Marriage;
25 Jan 1785, County Essex
Place   Great Maplestead
Church St Giles
William TYLER, Singleman
Elizabeth BRAY, Spinster
Witnesses, Abraham TYLER/John BRAY

There are also these Baptisms on FreeREG to WILLIAM/ELISA Tyler or just WM Tyler.
ISAAC, 25 Sept 1785
JOHN, 26 Nov 1786
THOS, 19 Oct 1788
SARAH, 27 June 1790
J(oa)S, 03 March 1792 (Fathers name only WM)
JOSEPH, 05 March 1791 (Fathers name only WM)

You would need to get one of Stephen/Elizas Childrens Birth Certs to find her maiden name

Most Trees have a 1841 Census for William Tyler under TYLOR born c 1761, Elizabeth c 1766
HO107/333/1/Great Maplestead

If true then this may be his Christening;

WILLIAM Tyler, 28 )ct 1759, St Giles, Great Maplestead
(NO Parents names given)
Around the same time a ISSAC/MARY Tyler were baptising Children in GM;
SUSANNA, 02 Feb 1751/2
ELIZABETH, 14 Feb 1753
HANNAH, 20 April 1755

As William names his 1st Son Isaac it is possible they are his Parents.

Stephen Tyler married Eliza Byford at Great Maplestead 06/11/1828

Eliza's parents were Joseph Byford and Sarah Sibley and she was born 1808.

I concur with earlier post from Trish as to Stephen's parents.

Elizabeth Bray was born in Castle Hedingham.

Information taken from my own research over a period of years so will need checking

Thanks for all your help.  This is looking very interesting.  Our family is made up from Tylers, Jones' and Edwards.  All very common surnames.  Still I am getting there.  Thanks once again.  Will need time to analyse all this as am away at the moment.  Lorraine

Hi everyone,  I am still looking everywhere and have managed to get back as far as William Tyler  1759 to 1847 and Elizabeth Bray 1765-1851.  Then trying to find those who come before. Possibles:  Isaac Tyler and Mary Tyler,  John and Hannah Tyler . Can't seem to make any headway in tying any of them together.  If anyone has any ideas.  HELP!
