Hannah HERBERT / HARBET / HARBERT
« on: Saturday 27 July 13 16:59 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to find the parents of the above she was born in 1784 possibly in Camrose (not sure of exact place, as can't find a baptism), she died 1874 in Sardis, Burton Parish.  Hannah married Phillip Hancock 1789-1834, the marriage took place on 11/08/1811 in Camrose.

Any help finding her parents would be appreciated

Susie  :)

If as you say she “died at Sardis Burton” in the 1874 then the lightly hood is that she is Non-conformist.

For which little of the registers remain in Pembrokeshire. For Sardis Burton, begun in 1822 see ;
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/PEM/Burton/#ChurchRecords

As we all very well know all mrge (X ~ Jew and Quaker) had to take place in established church pre Sept 1837, irrespective of baptism or burial which was permitted in Chapel grounds.
My speculation is (not worth much) I would be looking at St Martin’s or St Thomas H’west or at a push Johnston circa 1789, but again if she was baptized N-C research could be difficult to say the least, not least which circuit of which N-C faith she was in at the time.

Hi

I have a picture of her gravestone and that's where I got the Sardis Burton Parish from, she was a widow and was buried with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren, which I found strange as her husband Phillip Hancock died in 1834, so would have expected her to be buried with him in Camrose.  Do you know how far Sardis is from Camrose?

On the 1871 Census she was living alone at Sunny Hill Camrose and listed as a pauper.

Thanks for your help
