Harris Family
« on: Saturday 10 August 13 11:59 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking for any info on a Thomas Harris b. 1833 or 1835. Married Mary b. 1837. Their children were: Mary 1863, Amy 1864, Alice 1866, Thomas 1869, William 1871, David 1873, Isaac 1875, John 1878, Edith 1881.

David Harris married Phoebe Jane Roberts b. 1876 and had 6 sons. Norman Harris (the eldest) b. 1903 sailed to Australia on 10/10/1927 on the ship 'Baradine'.

Thanks  :)

Hi xrstokes

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

I've found a possible family on the census - however, the father Thomas is born around 1833 not 1850.  What is the source for your birth-year for him?

Cheers

Hi xrstokes and Ambly,

i am currently looking into my ancestry and saw your post.  David Harris who married Phoebe Jane Roberts is my great-grandfather.  Their 2nd youngest child came out to Australia on 8 July 1924 on the ship "Largs Bay" bound for Sydney, Australia.  This man was my grandfather.

I was wondering if you had any information on what happened to Phoebe.  I have got her listed on the 1911 Wales Census but can't find any trace of her death or anything later on.  I am also trying to confirm who her parents were and date of birth.

David's father was in fact Thomas Harris who was born about 1833 - he was 58yrs old on the 1891 Wales Census.  At the time his wife Mary was 54yrs old.  I am also at a loss about what happened to her.  When I look at the 1901 Wales Census - it shows Thomas who is 68yrs old but as a widower.  Not sure what happened during this 10year period.  I don't even have Mary's maiden name to go on.

do either of you have any ideas?  Would be great to get a bit more information.

Hope to hear from you soon.  FINGERS CROSSED

Hi Teeharr900,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I don't have any of the info you're after.

So Bert was your grandfather? Norman Harris was my grandfather.  :)

Cheers
