Have you tried searching the British Newspapers as there may be a report on the death of Frederick as it certainly seemed news worthy as to the circumstances of his death.

ah that I very interesting.i always knew some things were a bit odd in the family.i wonder why he was there but not his wife and child.

He may have been ill, sometimes admittance to the workhouse was the only option to get treatment.

Frederick was working and able to support his mother and himself.

There is a death of an Edwin Cook age 43 -

q3, Swindon, Vol 5a  Page 1

Also there is a marriage of a Rosa Cook

q4 1903 Swindon Vol 5a Page 47

It would appear that Rosa married William Stone.

Found the newspaper article for the death of Frederick William Cook, it appears in Bath Weekly Chronicle & Herald, 8 April 1950.

I'll send you a pm as there are names of some people who may be still living.

This looks to be the death record -

Hi, Just making inquiries about Frederick Cook who was found in the river at Saltford, Somerset?
was he the son of Rapkin Cook? if so Fred would have been my Great Uncle, I would be grateful for any information you may have.

sorry I haven't seen your reply before.i am the mother of freds gt.grandadught.her father being freds grandson.i know Kathleen his wife very well and I of course I knew his daughter up until his her death.kathleen is buried in saltford and her daughter matilda ethel millard nee cook is buried with her husband in keynsham cemetary.her son only died  less the 18 years ago.i would have to check my tree for date.when he drowned it was a open verdict as his hands were tied behind his back and his feet were tied.whether he did that himself or someone did it is not known.pm if you want more info.
