1841/1851 Cheshire Census look up request.
« on: Thursday 16 June 05 09:38 BST (UK) »
I wonder whether anyone can help me find my 3x great grandmother  Mary Harvey ( nee Hall). In the 1861 Census she was  42, widow, farmer born in Audlem Cheshire. She was living in 'Corbrook' ( hard to decipher the writing).
Her children were Charles 12 born Baddington, Hannah 10 born Woolfall ( near to Hankelow), John 9 , Martha 5, Thomas 3 all born in Audlem. Mary married Charles Harvey in 1847 at St. Mary's Acton Cheshire. I believe that Charles Harvey's death was registered for 1861 in the Nantwich area. Mary would have been born around 1819. I'm trying to find where she came from as it seems strange that she was born in Audlem but married in Acton and had her first child in Baddington. I wondered whether she came from Baddington/Acton.
All help appreciated.
Louise

Hi
The 1841 shows Mary in Baddington. Have also looked her family up in the 1851. It seems if what has been found is correct her father would be Thomas, does the marriage certificate confirm this ?

Hi Peter,
I could kiss you, you've made my day by finding out the wonderful Census info for Mary Hall/Harvey and family. :D
It looks as if I'll end up being related to half of the farmers in the Audlem Cheshire area at this rate.
I'm only going to come to you for help from now on you're a real star.
Many thanks it's much appreciated,
Louise

Hi Louise,

I have Halls in my family trees - William Hall b 1783 in Arclid, Sandbach, married Martha Bromfield from Wybunbury in 1803. They settled in Audlem & Dodcott cum Wilkesley.

There is also someone else researching Charles Harvey - their member name is cherylg - so you might want to get in touch with them !
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I'm related to Cheryl as we have an ancestor in commom Fanny Bromfield/Broomfield who was born in Hankelow.
I've not been researching the Hall link for very long so am sure that I've not come across any Hall/Bromfield marriages. Having said that it's still early days, so time will tell.
Mary Hall was the mother of  Fanny Bromfield/Broomfield's husband Charles Harvey though.
