I don't even know if that prison record is him.

The reason 'or Rock' is on the side is because 2 years previously there is a prison record for the same chap and he just went by the name Matthew Rock.

The surname Saul is a rare enough one and it can be easy to presume that any finds have to be your family.

I'm just looking at the 1901 Census and there are only 52 people with the surname in Dublin and then they are 19 in Wicklow.

It's hard to know where to advise you to go next with so little to go on . . .

You are talking at least 2 counties worth of records to go through (if you are up to the challenge)  ;D

Hi Tara,

Yes Henry's marriage cert lists his
father as Matthew a labourer. I had my doubts about the prison records but my Sauls do seem to have a talent for incarceration. With regards to religion, any of the Sauls I have found are RC but as you can see I haven't gone back terribly far.
