List of people buried in cemetries

I am trying to find a particular grave. Does anybody know if local councils list who is buried in council-run cemeteries? This person died in 1912. Many thanks, Chris

Welcome to RootsChat.
My local Council have all their burials recorded on computer at the local Council Cemetery. If you know where the burial occurred, just contact the local Council.

You could try www.findagrave.com it is a world wide database with more being added all the time, I have had  success in finding some UK graves.

A welcome from me also, I have found my local council to be great, I have given them the name and date of death of several people and they have come back with plot numbers for me.
As allready mentioned, www.findagrave.com is good.

Added: the local cemetery I visited at Thorne (Doncaster) has very helpful groundsmen who are only to happy to show you where a particular grave is situated.

My local regional will give you the grave number, however, without the lair map it will be impossible to find. The gravediggers should have the maps and be able to tell you exactly where the grave is.

You then find yourself driving x miles to a cemetry and standing over a bit of grass, minus headstone, thinking my relatives 6 feet under, get back in the car and go home.

Thanks for all those suggestions. I guess I'm off to the Leicestershire archives in Wigston to try and discover more!
