george whyte gordon help please?
« on: Sunday 13 October 13 18:06 BST (UK) »
Hi all
I am looking for the marriage of George whyte gordon who was married to a Annie Irving??. They were married August 14 1909 in Aberdeen scotland. This information came from their first childs birth certificate, Evelyn whyte gordon who was born in 1911 Dumfries. I have put question marks after Annies surname as it isnt very clear on the birth certificate.
Any help greatly appreciated. I have checked scotlands people but still come up with nothing so hoping another pair of eyes can spot anything. x x

A search at SP for a marriage in 1909 between a George Gordon and Ann *v* gives 1 hit at Aberdeenshire.

Hi, if you cannot make out Annie's surname are you sure you have read the marriage date & place correctly? How about looking up the 1911 census? It will confirm the length of time they've been married. If Evelyn, or any possible siblings, got married then you will see the parents names on their marriage certificate. I note there is only one death on scotlandspeople for an Annie Gordon nee Irvine. It's in 1921, in Aberdeen.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for looking you guys. Its definately August 14 1909 Aberdeen that they were married. I have 3 of their childrens birth certificates and its the same on all of them. Her surname is defo Irving as well as its alot clearer on her daughter, Florence Whyte Gordons birth certificate. I have looked on the 1911 census it says they were had been married 2 years, so im guessing 1909 is correct.

George Whyte Gordon is my grandfather and the maiden name of my grandmother was Irving. I would be very interested in any other information about them.
