Did you know my grandparents - Gwendoline & David John Davies?
« on: Saturday 19 October 13 15:39 BST (UK) »
I am interested in hearing from anybody who may have known Gwendoline Davies (nee. Davies) and or David John Davies of 30 Grant Street in Llanelly (lived at that address in 1946).  They are my paternal grandparents, but are deceased.  I've never been in contact with my father, and recent attempts to contact him have not been successful, so I'm unable to speak to him to find out more - *  All I know of my grandparents is from my father's birth certificate, so the only other thing I know is that David John Davies worked as a labourer in the steel works (I'm assuming this would be Trostre steel works..?).

If anybody can help I'd be really grateful - I'm quite a beginner at this family tree stuff!!  :)

Hi dreamangel

Welcome to RootsChat :)

Your Grandfather would not have worked at Trostre in 1946 because construction of that steelworks only started in August 1947, and production started in 1951.

Freebmd has the probable marriage of your Grandparents, in 1931 in the Llanelli registration district.

Llanelli volume 11a page 2290

Gwendoline Davies and David J Davies

If you purchase their marriage certificate, you will find out more information about them. For example, their ages, addresses, Father's names and occupations. This may help you to trace their ancestry and hopefully find them in 1911 and earlier censuses.

That's fine. Let us know the details once you have the marriage certificate and perhaps we can help trace the 2 Davies families. However, it is not the easiest surname!

That would be great, thanks.  Yes, the name is unfortunate isn't it...!
