Just adding for ease of research that the siblings' parents were Sween and Isabella.

Hi Edward

BMD records in Australia often include parent names so please could you let us have the parent names and name of the sister, including her married name if applicable.. Where in Scotland were they born, please?  As their forenames are not unusual Scottish names do any of them have second names as well?  Are there any other siblings who stayed in Scotland?

Sorry for all the questions and no answers but extra detail will be useful in eliminating those with similar names who are not the ones you seek.  The traditional Scots way of naming children using parent/grandparent names is often useful, as is the common practice of using the surname of the mother in name choosing.

Is the spelling Sween correct?

Judith

Hi there,

The NSW SRO’s index for the1854 voyage on the Columbia arriving Sept, has Sween as McDONNELL, aged 23, he was single, a Farm Labourer, of Clacknakerry, Inverness, Church of Scotland, and could read and write.

The NSW SRO’s Deceased Estates index has Sween MACDONALD, Ulonga, with death 6 Dec 1893, and Duty Paid 9 June 1894.

The NSW BDM death cert reference :  is #7126.  The surname is indexed as both MCDONALD and as MACDONALD.  (Oops, sorry Judith for duplicating your post)

Mabel Sween McDONALD appears on the Electoral Roll in 1930, 1963 and 1958.

Her addresses can be typed if of interest.  There are not others of the surname at her addresses.
