I have recently discovered my grandfather, August Heinrich Friedrich Barthold (Bartels in Australia) was born in Malchow Germany on 3 December 1862. His father was Carl Theodor Christian Barthold, a blacksmith, born on 20 March 1836 in Malchow. Carl married Mariane Elisabeth Johanna Pralow on 10 February 1862 and he died in Rostock on 19 April 1898. Carl's father was Johann Friedrich Barthold, a carpenter, who married Elisabeth Dorothea Henriette Kloth on 14 January 1828. Johann's father was Johann Jochim Barthold - also a carpenter.  If anyone has any further information on the family I would be grateful.
